Candidates should review the requirements for the particular post they intend to apply for.

The educational qualification depends on the post. Candidates must have the required qualification from the specified recognised or approved institution.

  • Navik (GD): 12th standard with Mathematics and Physics from a COBSE-accredited board.
  • Navik (DB): 10th standard pass from a COBSE-accredited board.
  • Hygienist-I: Matriculation/Class 10 or ITI/equivalent qualification from an accredited board or institution.
  • Yantrik: Class 10 with a relevant three- or four-year diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Telecommunication Engineering approved by AICTE. Other eligible Class 10, Class 12 and diploma combinations are also specified for this post.

The age requirement is not the same for every post. Candidates must fall within the prescribed date-of-birth range mentioned for their respective position and batch.

The notification provides separate birth-date conditions for Navik (GD), Yantrik, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I. Candidates should compare their date of birth with the requirement applicable to the post they choose.

Age relaxation is provided to eligible reserved-category candidates. The specified relaxation is 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC (NCL) candidates.

The basic pay varies according to the post. The prescribed pay levels are:

  • Yantrik: ₹29,200 basic pay under Pay Level 5
  • Navik (GD): ₹21,700 basic pay under Pay Level 3
  • Navik (DB): ₹21,700 basic pay under Pay Level 3
  • Hygienist-I: ₹21,700 basic pay under Pay Level 3

Selection is carried out through multiple stages rather than only a written examination.

  1. Stage I: Computer-Based Online Examination
  2. Stage II: Identity and biometric verification, Physical Fitness Test, Assessment & Adaptability Test, document verification and recruitment medical examination
  3. Stage III: Basic identity check, document verification and pre-enrolment medical examination at INS Chilka

Candidates should therefore prepare for the examination as well as the physical, verification and medical stages.

The fee payable depends on the candidate’s category. SC/ST candidates are not required to pay the application fee, while candidates belonging to other categories must pay ₹550 through the online payment facility.

Candidates who meet the eligibility conditions can apply online by following the instructions given in the recruitment notification.

The application involves entering the required details, uploading the necessary documents and paying the applicable fee. Before submitting the form, candidates should check all information carefully. After submission, they should save or print a copy of the completed application for their records.

Applicants should confirm the qualification, age requirement, applicable relaxation and post-specific physical and medical standards before completing the application. Since the recruitment includes written, physical, verification and medical stages, candidates should prepare for each stage instead of focusing only on the online examination.

For any post-specific condition or requirement, candidates should rely on the official recruitment notification as the final reference.
