Eligibility for SSC JE depends on the post, department and engineering discipline. Candidates must possess the prescribed educational qualification on the closing date of the online application.

The recruitment broadly accepts engineering degrees and three-year diplomas in relevant disciplines. Some positions also require specific work experience along with the prescribed qualification.

  • JE Civil: Degree in Civil Engineering or a three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution. Certain posts, including Border Roads Organisation, prescribe additional experience for diploma holders.
  • JE Electrical/Mechanical: Degree or three-year Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline, depending on the post.
  • JE Telecom: Relevant bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Telecom, Information Technology or related disciplines, as prescribed.
  • Scientific Assistant, IMD: Relevant bachelor’s qualification with subjects such as Physics, Computer Science, Electronics or related fields, according to the prescribed eligibility.
